We are seeking a Technician for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team to provide laboratory support to our engineers in various projects. AME's focus is to utilize advanced metal forming, coating, and joining technologies to create lightweight and extremely safe body structures. The candidate must exhibit professionalism and approaches his or her work with enthusiasm and clear communication. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in fast-paced environments. The Role: * Collaborate with AME Engineers to order, install, operate, and maintain various pieces of test equipment and machinery. * Proactively track laboratory inventory, order consumables, calibrate equipment, and ship/receive test specimen. * Develop organizational system(s) to ensure that all equipment is always 100% in calibration and working order. * Improve the capability of the AME laboratory by suggesting and implementing new, state-of-the-art tools/techniques/equipment to upgrade our internal testing capacity. * Assist AME Engineers and/or interns with their test programs, as needed. Qualifications: * Minimum of 3 years of automotive (or related) technician experience * A "can-do" attitude and ability to regularly lift more than 50 lbs, if needed. * Detail oriented personality with strong documentation and reporting skills including Microsoft office and Jira/Confluence. * Experience with oven and furnace heat treatment, mechanical testing (tensile, compressive, 3-point and 4-point flexural testing), salt spray test chamber, metallurgical saws/polishers, self-pierce riveting, and flow form screwing. * Knowledge of power tools, pneumatic equipment, and machine shop tools: band saws, grinders, mill and lathe, shear press. * Awareness of electrical hazards, including precautionary measures around high voltage equipment and rotating machinery. Preferred: * Experience with electric vehicles and/or automotive products a plus. * Experience cross sectioning, mounting, polishing, and inspecting metallurgical samples via inverted microscope. * Experience preparing and testing structural adhesive bonded joints * Great communication skills for relaying data (both verbal and written). * Impeccable organization and clean work environment habits.
