Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Vice President,
Market Access is charged with establishment of the trade/channel,
market access, pricing/contracting, and patient support strategies
and services. Developing and leading a complete approach, inclusive
of building a team and services, the incumbent will execute
cross-functionally to deliver on the seladelpar product launch and
other upcoming in-market brands. The incumbent will serve as the
leader and driver of uncovering, developing and accelerating
innovative access, channel, and patient support solutions that
enhance the ability for seladelpar to achieve short and long range
net revenue and profit targets as well as enable affordable HCP and
patient access to seladelpar. The incumbent will serve as a member
of the Commercial Leadership Team and will play a vital role in
building out the commercial organization's launch readiness
capabilities.Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead execution of product
access, pricing/contracting, trade/channel, and patient support
strategies and capabilities, including public/government channels,
affairs, and policy in support of strategies and services connected
with company/brand strategies and goals. - Ensure that access,
pricing/contracting, channel and patient support strategies and
models integrate and complement marketplace execution. Deploy
strategies, tactics and actions plans that drive strong and
profitable seladelpar coverage, PA approval, and refill rates;
enabling sales force execution of the brand strategy and
imperatives. Lead a team of Account Directors, and vendors deployed
in a coordinated fashion across payors/PBMs, pharmacy/wholesalers,
contract operations, and patient support customers and
environments. Negotiate access and contracts that enable full
realization of net sales and profit targets, launch strategies. -
Develop engagement/communication plan for relevant payor channels
lining up with commercial strategy and ensuring timely and
consistent implementation for pre- and post-product approval.
Develop early economic viability and price sensitivity assessments
for pre-launch assets. Coordinate efforts with internal resources
and external consultants to drive the development of critical
insights to inform pre-launch and launch-phase access activity. -
Partner with top payer/PBM, pharmacy, trade, and patient support
customers and vendors to ensure performance in line with contracts
and strategies. Monitor performance on monthly and quarterly basis
to ensure goal alignment and that contracts/models are executed as
planned. Develop streamlined specialty pharmacy and limited
distribution model which fosters simple access to seladelpar and
minimizes administrative hurdles and barriers to prescribing and
fulfillment. Lead strategic evolution and execution of seladepar
copay programs to maximize affordable patient access as well as
serve as an enabler of top and bottom-line growth. - Work
cross-functionally to develop clear, compelling, and sustainable
product value propositions based on evidence and objective
methodologies to include core value dossier and health economic
models, including cost effectiveness and budget impact, to ensure
adherence with payer requirements. - Collaborate with
cross-functional colleagues and senior leadership to ensure
alignment with strategies and priorities as well as to facilitate
effective execution of plans and models. - Partner with Insights
and Strategic Analytics and Finance to consistently analyze brand
performance and market trends within the payor/PBM, trade, and
patient support channels to assess progress vs. plans and contracts
and to inform market access strategy, product development, health
economics models, and economic burden evidence needs. - Apply a
deep understanding of national and state/local reimbursement trends
and policies, payer coding and billing, and newly forming health
care delivery models to facilitate development of Managed Market
strategies and system-wide awareness. - Establish and maintain
relationships with top payers, advisors, key opinion leaders and
other stakeholders. Ensure coordinated negotiation strategy with
clearly defined criteria and lead the Pricing and Contracting
Committee through negotiations with top accounts. - Regularly
monitor brand access and payor/PBM policy trends and proactively
alert and train commercial operations and sales personnel on
'pull-through' strategy and tactics.Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. An MBA
degree or related graduate degree is an added plus. - At least 15
years of biopharmaceutical industry experience in positions of
increasing responsibility required including 10+ years of direct
Managed Markets/Market Access experience in a leadership role
and/or relevant payer/insurance management experience. Proven track
record in operating at a senior executive level and capably leading
a Market Access team. Deep understanding of US payer market
dynamics, including public, private and healthcare reform-related
channels and their implications on broader business considerations.
- Prior direct experience with pre-launch Managed Markets planning
and strategy building preferred. Recent, successful track record,
reflecting ownership and/or leadership of Market Access, HEOR
and/or Pricing and Reimbursement strategic development and
executional pull-through. Understanding and proven application of
innovative approaches that create sustainable and tailored access
solutions. Demonstrated capability in anticipating access-related
marketplace changes to optimize corporate and product-specific
value under changing conditions and proactively use relationships
with internal and external stakeholder groups to synthesize
thinking, build advocacy and empower implementation of access
solutions. Experienced in addressing public policy trends and
managing related external communication. Well-developed analytical
skills with entrepreneurial insight and a pragmatic
approach.Demonstrated sound business orientation and the ability to
view issues from multiple functional perspectives combined with
fortitude in challenging industry status quo. Hands-on experience
in pricing negotiations strongly preferred. - Clear understanding
of how to best put patients' needs first while also achieving
commercial and business objectives. - Ability to travel, expected
range of 25-50% depending on business need - -The anticipated
salary range for VP, Market Access candidates who will work in
Newark, California is $280,000 - $335,000. - The final salary
offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several
factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length
of experience within the job, type and length of experience within
