to manage a full patient load Description: The ICU Registered Nurse
will provide care for critically ill patients. This role requires
proficient knowledge in managing conditions such as sepsis, DKA,
hyperglycemia, and COPD. ICU patients will recover from surgery in
this unit. Nurses must be comfortable with the ABCDE bundle and
managing vents. Each shift will include a Charge Nurse who serves
as a resource for the entire house. The charge nurse does not take
patients. Nurses will be responsible for reading and interpreting
their own telemetry strips. You will be floated to medical surgical
and telemetry floors as needed. Travelers are the first to float.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 2. There is an IV team available
for support. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are
available 24/7. Nurses should be comfortable with a variety of
patient diagnoses and treatments. No nurse aides are available on
this unit. Two weekends will be required per four-week period,
along with two out of three major holidays. Charting will be done
using an electronic medical record system. Please ensure that all
required certifications are current. This position may involve
managing patients who are staged for transfer or boarded in other
