This position is based at our Newark, CA location.

Job Summary:

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) follows the Acorn Development Process to successfully complete high complexity projects for Acorn's clients. The TPM provides both business and technical management of internal Acorn and external partner teams. In addition to project planning, scheduling and budgeting, this position is a hands-on technical role and requires a technical degree with substantial multi-disciplinary product development experience. The TPM also provides a single point of contact for clients to discuss technical, budget and schedule information.

Requirements 5-10+ yrs min of product design and development and demonstrated expertise in design of complex electro/mechanical devices
Bachelors degree in ME (preferred), Biomedical, EE or equivalent technical undergraduate degree, MS a plus.
Technical Project Management experience including:
Prior management of multiple complete development projects (from concept through production release) following a phased development process that includes verification testing.
Experience coordinating multiple disciplines and integration efforts with ME, EE, SW and ID efforts for a new product.
Proven team leadership through effective ongoing communication (both written and verbal) with the team members individually and the team as a whole, including off site and consulting resources.
Technical leadership of multi-disciplinary projects with complex electromechanical development efforts.
Effective client communications at every stage of the project life cycle, supporting the company-client relationship and ensuring client satisfaction.
Understanding and practical experience with project requirements development, feasibility and verification testing and all aspects of product documentation.
Successful history of planning, budgeting, scheduling and completing projects.
Use of Microsoft project to develop and maintain schedules
Support of new business development and development of proposals with Sales
Development of contingency and back up plans for high risk project areas
Experience managing engineers
Basic financial understanding

Bonus Experience
Prior experience with managing complex life science and/or robotics projects
Understanding of design control under 9001 and/or 13485
Hands-on development engineering for life science and/or robotics projects
Previous experience with mechanical and electrical safety testing and certification
Risk management using FMEA and Hazard analysis
Verification testing planning
Experience with UI/UX and ID teams

What You'll Do:
Develop and execute detailed project plans to achieve overall program goals.
Lead, coordinate and/or participate on cross-functional team activities from Concept Phase through Product Launch Phase
Provide Technical guidance and direction for Acorn project team members.
Act as the primary client contact for technical, schedule and budget aspects of project
Coordinate changes and impacts as requested by clients
Drive the program to meet development requirements, cost goals, quality objectives and time-to-market objectives.
Analyze complex problems including those related to technical and project risks; identify their impact; establish probabilities.
Responsible for completing documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with client, business and quality standards.
