We are currently seeking a Sr. Technical Specialist, Concept Architecture / Body Structures to join the product engineering team. This position requires an experienced professional who excels at body structures architecture definition, concepts, platform, and advanced vehicle engineering with a specialization in body structures design engineering. This position requires an experienced professional with in-depth technical expertise in structures, body performance indicators, materials, joining technologies, structural adhesives, fasteners, and corrosion in combination with high-performance team management skills. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. The Role: Lead the engineering work within the body structures team with a focus on structural concepts for future Lucid vehicles and platforms Represent the body structure requirements in the earliest Advanced Vehicle Engineering and studio engineering phases Define common and new load paths within the overall vehicle package using optimization methods Lead the team that designs platform underbody, skateboard, upper body, and greenhouse structures Drive the structural architecture decisions including state-of-the-art and cutting-edge technologies, materials, and processes Investigate the application of lightweight materials and technologies such as HPDC aluminum and magnesium, aluminum extrusions, magnesium sheet applications, tailor-welded and tailor-rolled blanks, hot-formed steel and aluminum, and composite concepts in body structures Perform CAD work in Catia V6 such as concept studies, design, and package investigations in body structures and closures-in-white Lead cross-functional communication and escalate challenges to senior management Decide the balance of simultaneous engineering aspects such as cost, weight, feasibility, structural performance, GD&T, design for manufacturing to define robust solutions with the highest quality Support internal cross-functional teams including studio, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, CAE, testing with the goal of advancing vehicle level efficiency Define assembly sequence, dimensional and slip plane strategy, and joining technologies Perform detailed vehicle benchmark analysis and derive robust yet cutting-edge solutions Hold your team to the highest standards of design, attention to detail, and communication and reporting This position reports to the body structures manager and may have direct reports Requirements: In-depth and detailed professional knowledge, and direct experience in all body structures aspects from a single part, to joining technologies, to assemblies and full body-in-white Factory experience with medium to high volume body structure technologies Proven track record of delivering cutting-edge solutions from concept to successful launch Creativity and drive to take blank sheets of paper and turn them into outstanding engineering solutions Solid expertise in applied lightweight design and confidence in the academic principles underlying lightweight design decision making Experienced in vehicle projects with applying lightweight concepts for metals and composites in body and closures-in-white Minimum 10 years of hands-on Catia work experience including parametric and associative design, links & publications, sections, product data management, section properties, packaging, and detailed component design Experienced in multi-material body structure and load path design Ability to identify multiple solutions to technical challenges Practical and theoretical knowledge of the product development process Independent, logical, and goal-orientated mindset High integrity and trust in all activities and communication Embrace and recognize Lucid values, mission, and culture Excellent written and spoken the English language Minimum 15 years of experience in body structures Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Advanced degree advantageous
