The Employee Relations Partner is responsible for ensuring internal and external compliance for the organization's California operations. This includes leading internal employee investigations pertaining to discipline and policy violations and making appropriate disposition recommendations. Staying abreast of legislative changes, this position will collaborate with HR and operational partners on the design, publication, training, and implementation of policies and standards for California operations.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead human resources investigator for all matters pertaining to policy violations and discipline; conduct thorough investigations that are fair and unbiased
  • Present summary findings to appropriate organizational leaders that support recommended disposition that is fair, transparent, and internally and externally defensible
  • Review and provide counsel to all employee separations
  • Engage with internal and external counsel (where appropriate) to mitigate risk for the organization and ensure people actions are in compliance with all relevant standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on the development and revision of policies to ensure efficacy and compliance
  • Monitor trends and prevalent activities to identify emerging areas of concern in need of remedy; partner with resources across the organization (such as training & development and site leadership) to address emerging issues and educate the organization and correct behavioral trends
  • Lead the California operations' response and engagement with any external employment-related agencies (such as EEOC)
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information, engaging personnel on an as needed and need-to-know basis

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of employment law, including federal, state, and local requirements
  • Comfortable investigating issues with an unbiased, unfiltered, and completely fair approach to lead to recommendations rooted in facts
  • Highly collaborative; comfortable working with people in a matrixed environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to foster and support a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork; able to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues across all departments
  • Comfortable to give effective presentations to all levels of the organization

Required:

Undergraduate degree in business, human resources management, psychology, or related fieldMore than 5 years of experience in progressive HR positions, with at least 3 years investigating employee incidents

Preferred:

Law DegreeMBA, Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Master'sdegree in Industrial Relations, or similarMore than 10 years of experience in progressive HR positions, with at least 5 years investigating employee incidents

Physical:
