Responsibilities

Summary

The Quality Engineer designs, implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality as well as regulatory standards requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Applies Engineering methods, tools and principles in the identification, analysis and solutions of problems in Operations.
  • Attends design for quality reviews and provides feedback to design team to insure product manufacturability per industry standards
  • Supports engineering builds on SMT line from quality stand point in terms of defects and yield monitoring, reporting, and establishing quality control plan to achieve the targeted yield
  • Develops and implements procedures, forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality data.
  • Member of MRB for disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Supports, and directs as needed, Production and Quality personnel engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on issues related to quality.
  • Supports Product Engineers and Quality Program Manager with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
  • Assures data availability and integrity for all quality related data. Consolidates and reports process results related to quality.
  • Initiates corrective action requests as needed and tracks to satisfactory completion.
  • Assists with development and implementation of internal and external audits.
  • Assists in developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards, sampling methods, inspection methods and test methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
  • Analyzes failure analysis reports of returned products and recommends corrective action. Assists in conducting failure analysis on returned products.
  • Provides daily support to Production and Quality.
  • Conducts quality and reliability tests.
  • Conducts product and process qualification tests.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management.

Important Skills

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and employees of the organizations.
  • Able to organize data and present problems, issues and recommend solutions.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ANSI/ESD 20.20, RBA standards.
  • Demonstrates technical, people and process skills.

Education/Experience

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other related fields.
  • 3-5 years' experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related field.
  • Experience in the manufacturing processes for PCBAs
  • Works on multiple, complex problems requiring evaluation of various variables.
