Job Purpose:

This is an exciting planning role where you will ensure material scheduling works effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels, while optimizing cost. Your responsibilities include identifying, maintaining, and coordinating materials in accordance to forecasted demand and schedules to ensure inventory levels and safety stocks are planned accurately.

This position is located on site in Sunnyvale, CA.


  • Responsible to predict and resolve site specific material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take up immediate actions in the event of material shortages put production at risk
  • Resolve material specifications, creating and maintaining forward looking inventory schedules.
  • Monitor MRP, inventory, customer demand, production schedules, build plans, inventory transactions and rejected material.
  • Coordinate inventory levels and controls to mitigate production impact risk with active safety stock planning, demand forecasts and open orders. Build contingency plans around risk.
  • Coordination with internal departments as valued partner and handle external stakeholder relations regarding expectations, production goals and forecasts, timelines, supplier payments, supplier lead times.
  • Coordination and management of suppliers to organize and ensure scheduled deliveries arrive on time. Or working with Procurement to create second sources, change allocations, or develop new partners.
  • Execute flexible material processes to provide shortage risk visibility, correct safety stock levels, aid business efficiency, and drive new process improvements
  • Lead site materials planning applied across the business, while ensuring SAP MRP Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity, inventory accuracy and inventory movements are handled daily.
  • Oversee responsibility for E&O process to ensure balance sheet has minimum liability
  • Ensure strategic and operational information, reports, and metrics are available to business partners
  • Collaborating closely with customers, suppliers, upstream make operational teams, and distributors.
  • Validate MRP information through direct interaction with production scheduling.
  • Stage inventory levels and execution processes for success to support JIT Kanban environment between inventory staging locations
  • Develop transparency and actions around changes to MPS and LRP driven by MRP/DRP.
  • Develop best fit solutions for supplier management of production utilizing and/or implementing blanket orders, Purchase Orders, VMI, Inventory Reports, Shop order and Sale orders.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain or related with 8+ years of related experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience; MBA preferred
  • Experience within an FDA regulated industry
  • Lean practice awareness or certifications; daily Management, Standard Work, Kaizen's around Problem Solving, Value stream, Heijunka, Poka-yoke, and Gemba
  • Expert knowledge and experience of Power Point to enable concise data driven communication preferred
  • High level of knowledge and experience in Excel for required analytics preferred
  • Direct Operations experience - in factory or production analytics preferred
