The individual will work in a collaborative, matrixed team environment, participate in designing and executing experiments in genetic and pharmacological animal models to support drug discovery efforts in oncology disease. In addition, the individual will also play role in developing animal models and disease-relevant endpoints at our labs in Sunnyvale, CA.The Research Associate will be a key contributor to the development and execution of ongoing drug discovery projects. You will achieve this by applying your technical expertise in xenograft models. Appointment will be at either Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate level depending on experience.Position Description Plan, design and conduct in vivo pharmacology studies-- -Perform extensive hands-on in vivo work including animal handling, compound administration, surgical procedures and tissue collectionConduct ex vivo protein, gene expression and imaging analysesEstablish, optimize and characterize mouse subcutaneous and intracranial xenograft, syngeneic and patient-derived xenograft models and test the effect of the therapeuticsWork collaboratively within group, unit and across multi-disciplinary teams of scientistsMaintain accurate, well-organized experimental records, perform data analysis, organize and communicate the results to team members, and present research progress at lab, unit and departmental meetingsKey contributor to the discovery research team, with broad responsibility helping us make novel discoveries to advance our pipeline assetsWork closely with our multi-disciplinary team of scientists, and interact with external CRO partners to generate novel hypotheses and advance our scientific prioritiesMaintain up to date knowledge of advancements in the field and new laboratory techniques and technologiesOrganize and present experimental results at regular internal meetingsMaintain accurate, well-organized experimental recordsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's, master's degree in Biology, Pharmacology or similar field2+ years of recent and hands-on in vivo experience, including animal restraint, and compound administration via various routes, tissue collection, tissue dissection, xenograft, intracranial and patient-derived xenograft modelsProven track record in in-vivo drug development within an industrial settingProficiency in standard biological laboratory techniques, including hands-on experience with DNA, RNA extraction, PCR, Elisa, Western blot, immunostaining, and bio-microscopy-- -desirableStrong ability and desire to learn surgical skills and new technologies-- -Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player, with the ability to work independentlyGood organizational skills and problem-solving skills-- -Ability to analyze data with high quality standards and to effectively communicate the experimental results-- -Experience with data analysis tools such as PrismExperience working in an industrial setting requiredQualities for Success:Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player, with the ability to work independently in a team environmentWell organized and able to maintain detailed records of experimental workAbility to communicate clearly and decisively in an open, timely mannerA sense of adventure and excitement to help build a successful company and work in a highly dynamic team environmentExperience working in a fast-paced environmentPresentation skills, including preparation of presentation materialsRain Therapeutics is an equal opportunity employer, and we're proud of our ongoing efforts to foster diversity & inclusion in the workplace.
