The Company combines science and technology in novel ways to improve health and wellness. Hound Labs believes its ultra-sensitive and portable technologies will pave the way to practical and fair solutions for some of the leading public health and safety issues. In early 2022, Hound Labs will launch its first ultra-sensitive point-of-care solution, the HOUND - MARIJUANA BREATHALYZER, which allows employers and law enforcement to identify recent marijuana use rapidly and accurately by testing breath on-site. Dr. Mike Lynn, an ER physician, reserve deputy sheriff, and former venture capitalist founded Hound Labs in 2014. Benchmark, EEC, Icon Ventures, Intrinsic Capital Partners, NFP Ventures, Tuatara Capital, and individual investors have funded the Company.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic molecular biologist to join the scientific group at Hound Labs. The successful applicant will be a creative and conscientious basic research scientist, with experience using a wide variety of molecular techniques to study complex biological processes. This role is ideal for someone who has a background in biomolecule detection, assay development, point-of-care applications and needs to be "hands on" to obtain the most satisfaction from her/his work. Salary commensurate with experience.

REPORTING TO: VP, Biotechnology & Software

DEPARTMENT: Research & Development


Active management of experimental activities and delivery of data in accordance with program and corporate timelines
Brainstorm new experimental directions with the R&D Team
Present data and report on project status at individual, group, departmental and project meetings
Design, conduct and coordinate assay development projects from inception to completion for the development of new assays
Conduct critical review of results and report data to Engineering leaders and project teams Write research and development reports and ensure all data is represented clearly and accurately

PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics or a related field
Experience in either diagnostics, biopharmaceuticals or related specialty firms, or in academics with PhD and / or Postdoc lab / research contributions and publications. A combination of both experiences would be ideal
Possesses the skills and confidence to work effectively with limited supervision, plus the ability to exercise independent judgment across a broad range of responsibilities
Experience with isothermal assay development, diagnostics and microfluidics
Experience working with RNA and BSL2 organisms
Experience in designing and performing experimental studies using a variety of methods including qPCR, cloning, CRISPR, fluorescence imaging, ELISAs/immunoassays, and other common techniques
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Able to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines
