As a Staff System Definition Engineer / Technical Specialist on the Motor Gearbox Engineering team, you will have design ownership of next generation EV mechanical propulsion systems and components for Lucid vehicles, motorsports programs and other applications. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with talented and passionate colleagues to design, prototype, test and launch these exciting products into production.
The Role:

  • Define the Drive Unit performance specifications to deliver the Flagship Vehicle requirements
  • Be the primary technical link between the vehicle program and the drive unit team
  • Work with the Drive Unit Sub-System owners to establish the optimum technology set that delivers the most competitive and highest value Drive Unit.
  • Define appropriate analytical and physical testing methods to ensure the technology combinations being identified are optimum and will deliver the expected results
  • Work with the testing team to establish the most efficient and effective approach to deliver the development understanding for all of the Drive Units
  • Work closely with the Lead Design Engineer for the Drive Unit to ensure they understand the technical definition for their design
  • Develop a strategy paper demonstrating a strong technology road map
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required
    Qualifications:
    • At least 8 years of relevant development experience in electric motors, geartrains, castings, thermal systems or other relevant systems
    • Demonstrated track record of excellence and innovation yielding tangible results in at least one (preferably more) finished, manufactured product
    • Translating vehicle requirements down to System specifications
    • Excellent organization and project management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proactive, ownership mindset and strong work ethic
    • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
    • Collaborative, team player personalityPreferred:
      • Automotive powertrain experience - especially transmission and EV powertrain systems
      • Experience selecting and working directly with suppliers and subcontractors
      • Hands-on mechanical test build and prototyping skills
      • Previous direct involvement in product launch for mass production
      • Led complex research and development projects in a fast paced environmentEducation:
