We are looking for someone with a strong background in electro-optical engineering to develop high TRL (Technical Readiness Level) products and test hardware for missile and space hardware. This position will report to a group that develops a product portfolio consisting of payload controllers, image data processors, high rate data routers, memory/storage devices, focal plane bias and regulation electronics, laser controllers, cryocooler electronics and other strategic electro-optical components.

Candidate should demonstrate effective verbal communication, proven ability to develop concise and professional technical presentations, and deliver briefings to peers, leadership, and US Government customers. We are seeking a new colleague who is willing and able to work in a classified environment.

As a Senior Staff Electro-Optical Engineer you will be: (a) leading the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for
an IR scene projector in a cryogenics environment (b) responsible for development and subcontract technical oversight (c) leading subsystem technical reviews throughout the product development and maturation processes assuring optical configuration items and optical components with specific characteristics are within specified requirements and perform according to specifications, (d) lead scene projector subsystem AI&T (d) reporting progress periodically to leadership and program customers and (e) providing overall technical oversight of the entire system .

Specific responsibilities include:
Perform as IPT Lead for the development of the IR scene projector subsystem
Provide experience-based leadership in scene projector component and optical design, development and fabrication; assembly and subsystem integration; and functional and performance verification testing
Provide technical guidance and direction to vendors and LM design teams to ensure compliance of optical products with all program requirements
Create technology maturation and risk reduction plans for critical elements and subsystem
Manage risk and identify mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, schedule, and mission success objectives
Leverage cryogenic and vacuum experience to develop an optimized testing environment, and ensure best practices are being followed
Perform as the Technical Lead for the entire Target Scene Generator Project

Basic Qualifications:
Experience as technical lead (IPT) for sophisticated hardware development such as optical and electro-optical systems, scene generators and projectors, or components for space applications
Background in development of emitters or arrays operating in the MWIR or LWIR bands
Experience with cryogenics and/or vacuum chambers
Experience with optical system engineering processes and tools used to develop and verify performance budgets (including optical design tools such as Zemax or CodeV, and/or optical metrology tools such as radiometric, wavefront, or profilometric, etc.)
Experience overseeing requirements development, flow down and verification events including support for overall test program and data trending program development
Active Secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
Experience managing technical content of design reviews (TRR, SRR, PDR, etc.) at the Payload and component levels and ensure successful closure of all action items and design artifacts
Support resolution of test failures, hardware anomalies, and provide support to system engineering during critical program milestones
Experience in verification and test planning, management, oversight, and execution of assembly, integration & test phase elements
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. Technical leadership of both internally provided and subcontracted hardware teams
Working with Certified Principal Engineers, Subcontract Managers and Program Management to coordinate Payload System level impacts
Experience with alignment and testing techniques leading to the verification of optical performance metrics and diagnosing optical aberrations
Familiarity with processes on failure investigation (root cause analysis, Failure Review Boards, etc.)
Experience as an Optical Designer
Active TS/SCI security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
